Zinfandel’s importance in California’s winegrowing history needs little introduction. Considered to be among the most ancient of vitis vinifera, with its roots traced back to Croatia where wine was being produced as early as 6000 BC, it was brought West by those seeking riches in California’s Gold Rush. No question, our founder James Skinner was as hot on Zinfandel as he was on his less-familiar Rhône varieties, and so, naturally, we’re continuing this tradition. The good news is, Zinfandel thrives here in El Dorado County with brighter, high-toned aromas, balanced fruit and a knack for being more than just a crowd-pleaser… ours is downright intriguing.
