Truly great Chardonnay is exhilarating. When all the elements – ripe fruit, savoury oak, refreshing acidity – are in balance, working together in harmony, the result is a sublime combination of richness and power coupled with sophistication and refinement. This is our vision when making Chardonnay and what we feel we have captured in this, our fourth, single vineyard release.

Hand harvested fruit from our “Tin Shed” vineyard was gently pressed and the juice fermented with indigenous yeasts in a French oak barriques and puncheons. Malolactic fermentation was encouraged to soften the acidity and impart further richness.

Scents of white peach, ripe grapefruit, and citrus blossom combine with toasty/nutty oak aromas to produce a complex and engaging bouquet. The wine is rich and concentrated in the mouth yet remains focused and composed with outstanding persistence and length of flavour. Stone fruit, citrus, and toasty oak flavours, gently drying phenolics and a fine backbone of acidity combine effortlessly to produce a seamless, harmonious palate with a mouthwatering finish. A fabulous wine of exquisite balance, poise and tension that encapsulates what great Chardonnay is all about.

89 | LY. Bright. Very oaky. A fine wine but just a bit too heavy on the oak.

98 | High toned sulfides on the nose. Clean. The palate is sweet-fruited and super flavoursome. Ripe lemon. A hint of nectarine. Layeres of sulfide complexity run through the palate. Long. Wow - there is a lot going on in this wine. Delicious. So flavoursome. So long. A highly complex sulfide driven style that has been done extremely well.

99 | Powerful notes of reduction at first; gunflint and struck-match. But then masses of very ripe citrus; grapefruit and mandarin. Appealing smoky, new oak. Palate kept in check by string thread of acidity. Lingering finish. Great wine

80 | there is so much reduction that it steals away from the beauty of what would have been an otherwise lovely Chard. sulfur, matchstick rubber and acid.
