Opaque inky red in the glass, and as you give this lots of air you’ll find red currant, cranberry, cassis, blackberry, and nutmeg. The fruits show slightly baked or dried, reflective of Red Mountain’s heat. On the palate, the fruits are layered with the earthiness of prunes and dates, with opulent, velvety mid-palate texture. The tannins are abundant but controlled in a way that can be hard to find in Red Mountain Cabernet of this age.

2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge

95 | Blue fruits. A hint of mulberry and cacao nib. Oak accents. The mid palate is dense, expressive refreshing. The back is compelling and wills you to take another sip. Love this. It is beginning to mellow. I love the spectrum of flavour.

84 | Amazing colour for its age: deep and purple. Nose is a bit stalky and odd, query slightly aldehydic? The tannins are mouth-crunching and chewy/thick

87 | tannic, mineral, tightly wound, subdued nose and fruit expression ---whacked with heat? Hot finish, needs refinement and focus

92 | Starting to show some bottle developed notes; savoury, sweet spice. Palate is slightly soupy - there is a lot of alcohol - but could do with a little more refreshment perhaps?
