Marisco Vineyards Pride & Glory Craft Series Sauvignon Blanc 2020

WINEMAKING

Hand harvested from selected rows within our Waihopai River and Leefield Station Vineyards, then gently whole-bunch pressed, the resulting juices were warm-fermented in large-format oak. Fermentation took place in a combination of 500L and 300L French oak barrels, a portion being from gently toasted new oak, providing aromatic complexity and palate weight. The wine was subsequently aged on full lees in oak for 10 months until blending, where the wine underwent gentle fining and filtration prior to bottling in February 2021.

TASTING NOTE

Enticing expressions of ripe nectarine, apricot blossom and tropical fruits are woven through subtle spices of cedar and vanilla derived from barrel fermentation. Stone fruit and citrus drives the mid-palate, a seam of crisp acidity offers focus, with fine oak tannins providing balance and length.

The crispy acidity of this Pride & Glory Sauvignon Blanc 2020 will pair perfectly with juicy sous vide prepared chicken breast, infused with fresh herbs and citrus, served with a couscous salad. Or try with a vegetarian paella, loaded with fresh seasonal vegetables, and topped with a drizzle of lemon juice.
