A wine that evolves in the glass over hours – and more so over days in the bottle. At first, it shows restraint red berry fruit and earthy notes on the nose. The palate has dense red cherry, some liquorice and meaty flavours with a structured cedar oak tannin reminding you of the granite slopes of the Voor Paardeberg where these grapes come from.

2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge

93 | An intense wine. Dark fruited. Faint meaty overtones. The palate is bold and has an element of rusticity. I like the mix of fleshy plum, leather and cherry stone characters. I like the lingering, sappy finish.

90 | Deep, dark colour, black tints, and smells overripe and a little dessicated. Forward. Creosote. Old tractor engines. V drying tannins. Big and chewy.

92 | Deep colour. Big savoury wine. Damson gin aromas. Luxurious palate - soft powdery tannins. Fleshy fruit. Quite a bit of alcohol but seems to have enough fruit in support.

85 | baked cherries and plums, wilted flowers, Overripe expression, clipped tannic finish
