We’re in the cool-climate GI of New England, Australia at 900m altitude, high on the western edge of the Great Dividing Range in northern NSW, near the little village of Tingha. We have one of the very few vineyards in Australia planted into degraded, deep red volcanic soils at high altitude. We planted our vineyard with a lot of little-known varieties that don’t have much history in Australia – most of these were Mediterranean varieties. It turned out that a lot of them adopted us & our terroir by easily producing more characterful wines than most of the French varieties. This lead us to graft a lot of the original French varieties over to the best performers of the Mediterranean varieties. As a result, we specialise in rare, mostly Mediterranean Emerging Varieties such as Nebbiolo, Gewurztraminer, Petit Manseng, Tannat, Touriga, Tinta Cao plus more. We make small batch, adventurous & distinctive wines with a focus on minimal intervention in the vineyard & winemaking, being food-friendly, cellarable & reflecting their rare terroir.
