The Ridge North Lilydale is established to showcase quality Tasmanian wine – table and sparkling – chardonnay, pinot noir and traditional method sparkling.
The vineyard sits in a perched, nested valley in the north east foothills of Mt. Arthur.
The 6000 vines of The Ridge North Lilydale were planted in the Summer of 2013/14.
Successive vintages have produced beautiful fruit of exceptional colour and composition, in bumper crops. The 2016 Pinot Noir from the first vintage – when the vines were just 2 years old – was listed in the 30 best new reds for Australia. In 2017, the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania judged The Ridge North Lilydale to be Tasmania’s Best Small Vineyard. The 2017 Pinot Noir has been noted as 96/100 points by James Halliday. The 2018 Pinot Noir has been awarded Gold Medals at The Royal Hobart Wine Show 2020 and Tasmania Wine Show 2021.
Sparkling wines are the forte: NV Sparkling Rosé and 2017 Tasmanian Traditional reflect the quality for which the Pipers Region of North East Tasmania is renowned.
Its top vineyard post may be Tasmania’s highest, at more than 350m above sea level. The result is that the fruit ripens with significant retained acidity: perfect for Pipers Region sparkling and an authoritative base for bottle-ageing pinot table wines of The Ridge North Lilydale.
