Pooley Wines was established in 1985 when the late Jack ‘Denis’ and Margaret Pooley planted vines on the banks of the Coal River in southern Tasmania. Now, in the hands of their third generation, Pooley Wines seek to share exceptional, nurtured wines that express their uniqueness, ambassadorship, and dedication to renew their environment for generations to come.

The expression of a sense of place is at the core of our philosophy. Our wines are enhanced primarily by our unique terroir, our commitment to sustainable viticulture, with minimal intervention winemaking. Our wines seek to personify the distinction between our two vineyards located in the Coal River Valley, Butcher’s Hill and Cooinda Vale.

Our cellar door is located on the outskirts of the historic Richmond township in the heart of the Coal River Valley. Nestled between Belmont, the Georgian convict built, heritage listed home, and our vines you will find our tasting room in The Coach House. Awarded the 2023 Halliday Wines of the Year, Pooley Wines is a must-see cellar door when visiting Southern Tasmania.
