First made 40 years ago in 1982, the John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon is Wynns’ flagship wine. It is made in small quantities from the best available fruit grown on the estate’s extensive Cabernet Sauvignon plantings in the heart of the terra rossa soil. As a definitive Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, John Riddoch is only made when grapes of extraordinarily high quality are available and less than one percent of the top-quality cabernet sauvignon grapes are included in the final wine.

Dark fruit with lemon verbena accents and a little bracken. The palate is lovely. Classically proportions.

  2. 93

Graphite and blackcurrant with hints of tobacco leaf and black olive aromas. Inky deep and profoundly concentrated. Muscular tannins and savoury oak notes. Finishes lacy and minerally. Bolshy and unyielding but will probably unpack with age. Dark Horse wine

  3. 95

Bright cassis, fine herbs. Elegant and blue-fruited, very pure and polished with ripe tannins. Beautiful balance.
