The Maurice O’Shea Shiraz is the flagship red wine for the Mount Pleasant and is a blend of the best fruit available, only made in the best years. Taken from the Old Hill (1880), Old Paddock (1921), Rosehill 1946 and 1965 Vines, it is truly a complex and unique wine to Mount Pleasant. The grapes were entirely handpicked, destemmed and whole berries sent to open top tanks for cold soaking before inoculation and fermentation at 18-25 ?C for another 9 days. The wine is then gently pressed to less than 20% large format new French oak barrels for 12 months maturation before blending and bottling.

    Medium weight. Balanced and savoury.

  2. 94

Lifted mulberry cedar aromas. Fresh, full bodied ripe blackberry fruit, hint of dried leaves. Good freshness, chalky tannins. Plentiful cedary oak dominating the palate.

  3. 93

Blackberry sesame, bitter dark chocolate, cedar aromas and flavours, sinewy tannins and integrated acidity. Savoury notes at the finish.
