Deep purplish ruby colored, this wine emits intense aromas of black cherries, black plums, black currants, black roses, mulberry, cigar box, Spanish lavender, sweet herbs, anise and stick incense. The flavors, as well, are dramatic, with layers of thick black fruits that are infused with black licorice, chicory coffee and Les Collines silty earth. The saturation continues on the back with sensations of macerated fruits, roasted almonds, cherry liqueur, leather and graphite, followed by a lingering Rioja-like dryish tannin finish that is smoothed out by lanolin and lifted by vivid fruit acids.

Reviews

  1. 95

Opens with bright fresh dark strawberry and blueberry. Hints of field herbs. Fresh and vibrant with depth of sweet blueberry fruit, plush core and ripe slightly chalky tannins.

  2. 90

Blackberry fruit with strong coconut accents. The oak has been overdone.

  3. 91

Dark fruited walnutty wine, with firm drying tannins and savoury oak complexity.
