Poonawatta is a boutique wine producer located in the Eden Valley wine region, Barossa’s beautiful high country. Established in 2002 by founders Michelle and Andrew Holt, we focus on single vineyard wines made from estate and grower blocks. Like many small wine producers in the Barossa, the Poonawatta brand has been built on the foundation of heritage and family with a 160-year history of Eden Valley farming and viticulture.
The Poonawatta property takes its name from the Peramangk First Nations Peoples; Poona meaning ‘good’ and Watta meaning ‘country’. Fitting descriptions for this beautiful part of Eden Valley, and the sustainable approach to farming and land care on the Poonawatta property.
