Vrede en Lust Cabernet Franc 2019

The vines were planted in 2008 on a 1.1 hectare north-facing slope on Vrede en Lust’s Elgin farm, Casey’s Ridge. To ensure even ripening, canopy control is meticulously applied from pea berry stage and all green bunches are removed at veraison.

Alluring bouquet of red and black fruits. Ripe red cherries and blackberries intertwine with subtle herbal notes of bell pepper. Cabernet Franc showcases its cool climate finesse with a medium to full body and a smooth, velvety texture. The wines supple tannins create a refined mouthfeel. Juicy red fruit flavours of raspberry and cranberry, with blackcurrant, adding depth and richness. Subtle hints of tobacco and a touch of black pepper add complexity, while a gentle earthiness contributes to the wine’s layered character.
