There’s a clear and consistent quality to the Merlot wine produced by Star Lane Winery. The 2021 Merlot has a youthful exuberance which is offset by an attitude to spice and structure. Just ripe red plums and red cherries through the palate. This is a beautifully balanced wine with pristine fruit, high cheek bones and a statuesque frame, re-difining the image of premium quality Merlot.

92 | More open-textured, starting to show some tertiary notes of sweet leaf tobacco and leather. Plenty of mid-palate richness and intensity. Tannins are powdery and fine. Maybe not particularly lengthy but well-structured. Drink now.

94 | Berry compote nose. Plush and developing expression. Juicy fruit (mixed berry) with brightness and intensity. Medium-bodied and focused.
