The Merchant Prince Rare Rutherglen Muscat is our flagship fortified wine. It bears the name of the ship that carried our founder, Scotsman John Campbell, to Australia in the 1860’s. This classification is rare by name and by nature and is over 80 years old in our solera system. It is the richest and most complete wine – displaying deep colour, intense fruit and dry ‘aged oak’ characters, rich viscous texture and an extraordinary depth of mellowed complex flavours. There are five generations of Campbells in every glass and this wine is a testament to our father Colin Campbell. Julie Campbell, fifth generation winemaker.

95 | Serious and complex. Nutty, leather and caramel-laced nose. Mouth-filling and expressive. Epic weight and intensity. A minty note on the lingering finish.

97 | Immensely concentrated and luscious, with toffee, barley sugar, molasses, ripe banana and baked apple. Intensely sweet, yet has a lovely rose petal lift. Incredible length.

96 | Deep brown hue. Opens with treacle, molasses, burnt brown sugar. Sweet and unctuous but offering huge depth of stewed sultanas, caramel and molasses. Finishes long with incredible persistence.

96 | Glass-coating amber colour of a very old wine; old wood and concentrated rancio muscat aromas of great concentration and maturity. Very syrupy, sweet and luscious, with notes of raisin, rum and raisin-chocolate and old leather upholstery. Gorgeous old muscat with freshness and age.
